Hey mama,

Can we talk about something that might surprise you?

It’s about your partner… That guy who pretends not to cry at Disney movies and claims he “doesn’t need anything” for Father’s Day.

He’s actually much softer than he lets on. And honestly? It’s the most beautiful thing.

 Here’s the heartfelt truth:

Nearly half of Aussie Dads hear “I love you” from their kids every day, but 70% wish they heard it even more often. Yep, he’s secretly craving to hear those three little words from little ones just as much as we do!

In fact, 94% of dads say an emotional message from their children means more to them than any expensive gift. More than socks, that new drill, fancy cologne… They want their hearts filled, not their garage (nor their sock drawer!).

They’re keepers (literally)

Want to know something incredibly sweet? 90% of Australian dads have kept a Father’s Day card for years because it made them feel loved. Cards tucked away in desk drawers, slipped between book pages, or even proudly displayed on office walls. Your partner probably has a secret stash of drawings from when your kids were tiny, cards with wobbly handwriting, and photos that make him smile on tough days.

For all the father figures

And let’s not forget, Father’s Day is also about celebrating stepdads who chose to love your children as their own, granddads who spoil and guide, and yes, those solo mamas out there who are doing it all.

This Father’s Day, let’s do something different

Instead of racing around looking for the “perfect” gift, what if we focused on helping our kids create the perfect message? What if we encouraged them to tell Daddy exactly why he’s amazing?

  • Perhaps it’s creating a wall-worthy baby masterpiece with cute handprints and footprints.
  • Maybe it’s helping your 4-year-old draw a picture of their favourite daddy-daughter dance parties.
  • Or it could be as simple as recording your toddler saying “I love you, Daddy” in that sweet little voice that melts his heart every single day.

At the end of the day, the greatest gift we can give is helping our children express what’s in their hearts. And trust me, mama, those words will be treasured long after any store-bought gift is forgotten.

So go ahead, encourage those heartfelt messages – and help create that keepsake card.
